Literary campaign #ReadNordic, Embassy of Sweden, Café Potrvá and Scandinavian House cordially invite you to a poetry evening #Twitterpoetry.
Swedish poet Elis Burrau will be in Prague to participate in the campaign #ReadNordic at the end of March where he will introduce a distinctive genre of poetry published on Twitter, at a café in Dejvice. The poems must fit into 140 characters – during the evening the audience from both Sweden and Czech Republic will be able to participate via Twitter and send in their haiku and short poems. Afterwards we will with the Czech poet Metoděj Constantine choose the most interesting ones, translate and recite them live, tweet and slam!
In English, interpreted into Czech.
Free entry.
Elis Burrau (b. 1992 in Stockholm) is a poet, presenter and editor of the independent literary magazine Nöjesguiden. Burrau is a member of a group of poets associated with the internet revue “fikssion”. He studied at the literary academy Biskops Arnös. Together with the poet Anna Axfors he leads a PDF publishing house called Fame Factory and writes the blog We, Who Never Wrote Prose (Vi som aldrig skrev prosa).
In March 2016 Elis debuted with a collection of poems called And We Continued Doing Something Touching (och vi fortsatte att gora någonting rörande, CLP Works), a book that is based on an arbitrary handling of language and revolves around children, conceptual art and the treacherous potential of internal humor. He frequently uses Twitter as a poetic platform and regularly publishes his works at http://www.elis-burrau.com.
We should not say “I’m gonna die”, when we desperately laugh at something awfully funny, we should say, “I’m gonna die” all the time. – Elis Burrau
The event is organized by the Nordic embassies in the Czech Republic and the Scandinavian House as part of the campaign #ReadNordic, with financial support from the Nordic Culture Fund and the Swedish Arts Council.
