Travel Evening 2019

The Scandinavian House in cooperation with Travellers’ Club Praha cordially invites you to its eighth year of intriguing travel lectures.

Can you hear the waves on the northern seashore echoing in your ears? Can you see the pointed mountain tops reaching up to the sky? Are you tempted to track footsteps of old Vikings? Or perhaps you simply want to feast your eyes on the views of the Nordic wilderness safely in your chair while enjoying a warm cup of tea? Come enjoy the stories of three enthusiastic travellers!

For the first part of the evening, Finnish adventurer, traveller and photographer Harri Ahonen will talk about the most beautiful one-day hikes in Northern Norway. You will see the fjords, Norrlandʹs costline, archipelagos Lofoten and Vesterålen or Sjunkhatten National Park, and get to know not only beautiful Norwegian nature and wild animals, but also listen to interesting local stories, including one saga (a shortened version, of course). In the second part of the evening, Jitka Jindřišková and Michal Švec will present Shetland, the northernmost islands of Great Britain. This seldom visited place hides countless natural and historical treasures. You will learn about the national nature reserve Hermaness, the 2000-year-old fortress on the island of Mousa, subarctic desert, the archeological site of Jarlshof and a lot more. Both lectures will provide you with practical travelling tips.

THE EVENT IS SOLD OUT, WE DO NOT RECEIVE ANY FURTHER RESERVATIONS. YOU CAN TRY YOUR LUCK TO GET A SEAT BEFORE THE LECTURE AT 5.15 PM.

Admission fee: CZK 60 / 50 (Scandinavian House members)
