The Scandinavian House presents an online debate about Ingmar Bergman, one of the most important personalities of Swedish film and theatre.
We will talk with Zbyněk Černík, a translator from Swedish who has translated numerous Bergman’s films and books to Czech, Dora Viceníková, a dramaturge of the Czech theatre Divadlo Na zábradlí, and Karolína Stehlíková, a theatrologist and expert on Nordic theatre. Moderated by Martin Severýn.
We will discuss Ingmar Bergman’s many faces: we will uncover this phenomenon of Swedish culture not only as a director and playwright, but also as a writer. We will mention the challenge of translating his books to Czech, and the tradition of staging his works in Czech theatres, including the contemporary situation (although heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic).
The debate is going to be streamed on our Facebook page on Thursday 10th of December 2020 from 19.00, afterwards it is going to be available on our Youtube channel, too.
Free admission, no reservation needed
The event is financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and Prague Municipality.
