Scandinavian House and literary fair Book World Prague will hold the tradition literary evening with Nordic authors.
The event will feature four Nordic authors:
A debate with the authors Iida Turpeinen from Finland and Robert Zola Christensen from Denmark will take place from 19:00. Their books Beasts of the Sea and No Balloons are both about science. The first book sheds some light on the fate of the massive herbivorous marine mammals who became extinct in the 18th century due to human activity. The book recounts interesting chapters of the history of science through the form of literary fiction. The second book is a scathing satire set in an academic environment that pokes fun at the political correctness of contemporary Sweden. Moderated by Magdalena Jírková.
In the second half of the evening from 20:00 we will hold a discussion with Swedish author Lisa Ridzén and Norwegian author Frodde Grytten. What their characters have in common is old age. While When the Cranes Fly South is a tender story of Boa Anderson and the longing to gain control over one’s faith, widower Nils Vik from The Day that Nils Vik Died purposefully sets out on his final voyage across the fjord where he has worked as a ferryman for decades. Moderated by Helena Stiessová.
In Finnish, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian; interpreted into Czech.
Excerpts are read by the actor Marie Jansová.
Admission to the event is part of the ticket to the literary fair Book World Prague. It is possible to reserve a seat over the literary fair website, however, a part of the hall is not included in the reservation system. Based on our experience from previous years, we recommend coming even without a reservation.
The evening can get chilly, so don’t forget to dress warmly!

The event is organised in collaboration with Nordic embasssies in the Czech republic, literary fair Book World Prague, literary foundations FILI, NORLA, the Danish Arts Foundation, the Swedish Arts Council, publishing houses Paseka, Euskaldun, Host and NLN.
