Nordic Literature Evening

On the occasion of the fair Book World in Prague, the Scandinavian House in cooperation with #ReadNordic campaign and Student Club Celetná, organizes a traditional literary evening with Nordic authors as guests.

This year’s guests are Norwegian best-selling writer Jostein Gaarder, mostly known as an author of extraordinary children‘s and young adult books, Finnish writer Johanna Sinisalo, one of the foremost Finnish science fiction and dystopian literature writer, and Swedish writer Ulf Stark, author of popular books for children some of which have been translated to Czech. Other invited guests are Danish short story author Dorthe Nors, who had her first collection of short stories translated into Czech last year, and Icelandic poet and writer Sjón, whose work falls outside the Icelandic mainstream literature.

The discussion consists of two parts: from 19:00 to 20:00, Jostein Gaarder, Johanna Sinisalo and Ulf Stark will be interviewed by Daniela Mrázová, and from 20:15 to 21:15, Marie Voslářová will lead a discussion with Dorthe Nors and Sjón. The evening will be accompanied by reading from the authors’ books.

The event takes place with the support of Prague City Hall, Ministry of Culture Czech Republic and the Nordic embassies in Prague.
