Translator Lada Halounová and Nordic studies specialist Helena Březinová will present the complicated personality and works of the Danish writer, Tove Ditlevsen.
Tove Ditlevsen (1917–1976) is one of Denmark’s most read authors, yet up until recently, she has been overlooked by scholars and critics and she has not been taught about at universities. Only when the 100 th anniversary of the author’s birth was celebrated in 2017 with the reissuing of her auto-fiction books among other things, was the worldwide literary sensation born.
Translator Lada Halounová and Nordic studies specialist Helena Březinová will present the complicated personality and works of the Danish writer, Tove Ditlevsen. They will focus especially on her works, The Copenhagen Trilogy and The Faces (recently translated to Czech), her place in the Danish literary canon and the details of the author’s unexpected success that came almost fifty years after her death.
