Looking for tips on Christmas book presents?
The Nordic meeting over the books of the publishing house Host, organized by the Scandinavian House, will present selected titles published during the past year that should not leave any fan of Scandinavia and quality literature cold!
With the head of the translation editorial team, Nikola Kochová, we will delve into Finnish literature, namely into the multifaceted work of Finnish novelist Pirkko Saisio: we will talk about her poetic autofiction about her childhood in 1950s Helsinki, Lowest Common Denominator, and her monumental historical novel Passio. Together with translator Magdalena Jírková, we will visit Mr Saito’s Traveling Cinema in the second novel by Danish writer Annette Bjergfeldt. Editor Pavla Nejedlá will not only introduce this year’s titles Gusten is crying (Sara Gimbergsson) and Giraffe Island (Sofia and Amanda Chanfreau), but she will also give us a taste of the upcoming spring books.
Moderated by Jan-Marek Šík.
