Nordic Literature Evening

The Scandinavian house and the Book World Prague are hosting the traditional Nordic literature evening with Nordic authors.

There will be three guests this year: Mikko-Pekka Heikkinen (Finland), Gunstein Bakke (Norway) and Anne Catherine Bomann (Denmark).

Heikkinen’s The Reindeer Mafia (Poromafia) takes place in Lapland, where the reindeer herdsmen have to play by the rules of the local mafia bosses. Bakke is no stranger to the Czech audience, as he has had two of his books translated into the local language: Maud and Aud (Maud of Aud)and Expectant (Havende). His books are perfect for readers who are hard to please and have a taste for extraordinary language. Bomann is originally a psychologist, and the novel Agathe is her first work – though it has already been translated into about forty languages.

Moderated by Barbora Grečnerová.

The event will be enriched by short scenic readings from the books, read and performed by Barbora Vyskočilová. At the very end, there will be an authograph session.

In Danish, Finnish and Norwegian: interpreted into Czech.

The event is subject to change according to the (eventual) pandemic measures from the Czech government and travelling restrictions between the Czech Republic and Scandinavia.

The event takes place in cooperation between the Scandinavian embassies in the Czech Republic, the Book World Prague fair, Literary agencies FILI, NORLA, Danish Arts Foundation and Finnish Institute Finnagora. The 2021 literary project of the Scandinavian house has been financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and Prague Municipality.
