Nordic literary salon online in April will be one of a kind. Two translators from Icelandic, translator to Czech, Lenka Zimmermannová and translator to Slovak, Zuzana Stankovitsová, accepted our invite. We will talk about a novel by Jón Kalman Stéfansson, Yellow Sumbarine, which was published in Czech by publishing house dybbuk last year and two years before that in Slovak by publishing house Artfrotum In the novel the author skilfully connects different story lines, places and motives and like in his other works, music plays an important role. Thanks to our hosts, we can focus on how one original text translates to different languages. Moderated by Hana Švolbová.

The partner of Nordic literary salon online is Czech Translators of the North – an association that brings together translators of fiction from Northern languages to Czech. The event is part of the Scandinavian House’s year-long project Nordic Literature in the Heart of Europe 2025, which is held with financial support by the Prague City Hall and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
