Free admission, no registration needed.
Helena Kadečková (1932–2018) was the legend of Scandinavian studies in Czechoslovakia and later the Czech Republic. Throughout her life and thanks to her travels, translations, speeches and work, she managed to popularise the whole Scandinavian region, and most importantly, Iceland. She taught several generations of future translators and diplomats at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, and her memoirs were finished only months before her death. The book was later edited and published by Helena Kadečková’s friend, the editor Daniela Iwashita.
The partner of the event are the Czech translators of the North – an organisation uniting Czech translators from Nordic languages. The event is a part of a year-long project of the Scandinavian House: “Nordic literature in the heart of Europe 2022”, which has been supported by Prague municipality and the Czech Ministry of Culture.
