Come and enjoy fun outdoor games, browse through Nordic children’s books, and taste Norwegian waffles with brunost!
Skandinávsky dům Brno, in collaboration with Picnic box café, is organizing a Nordic game afternoon in Björnsonův sad – an event not just for kids and their parents. You can try to play the Finnish skittles mölkky or the Swedish Viking game kubb. A variety of board games and outdoor games for different group sizes and age ranges will be available, along with helpful guides ready to explain the rules. For the youngest ones, there will be several creative activities inspired by the fairy tales of H. C. Andersen.
Those who want to rest can browse the latest Nordic children’s books. Of course, there will also be books about the Moomins and Findus the cat, and actress Kateřina Jebavá will read excerpts from selected titles, including Adventures with Waffles by Maria Parr.
And what would a Nordic afternoon be without snacks? You can look forward to freshly made Norwegian waffles, which you can top with toppings according to your liking – for example, strawberries, sour cream, or the brown cheese brunost with its distinctive flavour. You can also cut the cheese yourself with an authentic cheese slicer, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Don’t forget to bring a blanket, good spirits, and your family or friends. Sweet snacks will be available for purchase at our stand, while the beverages will be provided by Piknik box. Please note that the number of waffles is limited.
