Katariina Lillqvist is a Finnish director and screenwriter, who has for a long time been living and working in the Czech Republic. The local animation has enchanted her to the point that she decided to study and, in the end, even partially move to the Czech Republic. Her unconventional puppet movies, where various genres are often merging, have since the late 90’s been provoking various discussions. Over the years, she has collected many awards in Finland and abroad. One of the most important ones is the Silver Bear from Berlinale 1996 for the short movie Maiden and the Soldier. Apart for the animated movies, she has also been working on documentaries for various television and broadcasting companies.
