Historical drama based on a true story
A celebrated movie directed by Jan Troell tells the story of a seemingly ordinary (and definitely a poor) woman. Marie Larsson has seven kids and works from dawn to dust, while her husband just spends his days drinking. One day, Marie wins a camera in a lottery, and thanks to that, her life changes. She begins to see her life from a new perspective, and finds the way to escape the misery of her everyday life.
Starring: Mikael Persbrandt and Maria Heiskanen.
Jan Troell counts amongst the biggest names of modern Swedish cinematography. Famous thanks to The Immigrants (Utvandrarna, 1971) nominated for Academy Award, or Hamsun (Hamsun, 1996), the biography of one of the most celebrated Scandinavian writers. Interested in the most intimate topics of the human existence, he is often nicknamed „the poet of the silbver screen“.
