Nordic fairy tales and folktales

What are the dangers of trolls and goblins? What does the castle of Soria Moria hide? How do the Inuit believe the sun was created?

Come and get in the Christmas mood by talking about Nordic fairy tales and legends, which are full of mythical creatures and ruggedly beautiful nature. With the participation of translators Zdeněk Lyčka, David Šimeček and Jarka Vrbová and Argo publishing house editor Markéta Nová, we will present Faroese, Greenlandic, Norwegian and Saami titles from the Myths, Fairy Tales and Legends series. We will talk about the nature of Nordic folklore, its position in contemporary Nordic culture and the challenges associated with its translation into Czech.

Moderated by Michal Švec.
