Nordic Days 2022: the Nordics and the world. The thirteenth year of our annual festival is coming!
The festival will start on the 2nd of November with a discussion with the Swedish author Matilda Voss Gustavsson, who has recently had her book The Club translated into Czech. The book deals with the heavy topic of the abuse of power, the culture of silence and the issue of socially overlooked sexual violence. Her partner in the debate will be Linda Bartošová, the author of the book The Newswomen.
The second Nordic author to visit the festival this year will be the Danish writer and musician Annette Bjergfeldt with her book When Life Gives You Hippos, who will talk – in both Prague and Brno – with the Czech writer Markéta Hejkalová, who has recently published a new novel The House under the Square.
In both cities, you can also look forward to a discussion about the personality of the “greatest Finn” and the war hero Gustaf Mannerheim, since the Czech edition of the book Memoirs of the Finnish Marshal has just been published.
A screening of the Danish film The Good Traitor, which depicts the fight of a single man to liberate Denmark from Nazism, will take place in both Prague and Brno. In Prague, you can look forward to two more screenings: the Swedish film The Last Sentence and the Norwegian film The King’s Choice. These films, connected by similar topics, offer together a unique comparison of a Danish, Swedish and Norwegian perspective on WWII.
