Next station Finland: Finnish immigrant literature

“Why move to Finland?” Presentation of the February issue of Plav magazine dedicated to Finnish immigrant literature.

“How many different causes, paths, means of transport and crossroads of life can there be”, will be revealed by Jana Stárková and Tomáš Roček’s performance – a small procession and installed still lifes inspired by the aesthetics of Aki Kaurismäki’s films based on the texts by Alexandra Salmela (Burn, My Maiden; trans. Andrea Papugová and Martin Mokrý) and Ranya ElRamly (The Position of the Sun; translated by Julie Minaříková) from the current issue of Plav.

The evening will be guided and the issue will be presented by the editor in charge Silvie Mitlenerová, the author of the concept Jan-Marek Šík and a member of the translation team Julie Minaříková.

The event is organised by Plav magazine in cooperation with the Scandinavian House and is supported by the State Fund for Culture of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the Prague City Hall.
