Denmark as seen by Czech writers
Travel is not only a modern phenomenon – people have been going on journyes and discovering the world for centuries. Europe Direct in collaboration with Scandinavian House and Regional Library in Pardubice prepared and inspirational reading from old travelogues of Karel Čapek, Arnošt Kraus, Václav Fiala and more. The reading will be accompanied by a screening of historical and contemporary photographs.
How did Czech writers of the first half of the 20th century look at Denmark and what has changed since then? Together, we will attempt to find the roots of today’s modern, confident and sustainable country, which knows how to connect respect to nature, tradition and contemporary life.
