The Moravian-Slovak festival Authors’ Reading Month will introduce around thirty authors from Iceland. Three of them will also visit Prague. Hallgrímur Helgason visited (A)void Floating Gallery on the 4th of July. Andri Snær Magnason and Þórdís Helgadóttir are coming of the 25th. Both authors are known for their austere and reflective style of writing, and the overall themes of the climate change and the relationship between humanity and nature.
Excerpts from the books will be read by the actors Libor Stach a Martin Severýn.

Andri Snær Magnason
Andri Snær Magnason is an Icelandic writer and documentary film director born in Reykjavik on the 14th of July 1973. His book, On Time and Water was a national best seller in Iceland in 2019 and will be translated to more than 30 languages. On Time and Water in shortlisted for the Nordic Councils Literary Prize of 2021. Andri has written novels, poetry, plays, short stories and essays. His work has been published or performed in more than 40 countries. Andri ran for President of Iceland in 2016 with environmental issues on his agenda and came third.
Þórdís Helgadóttir
Thórdís Helgadóttir is a writer and playwright born in 1981 in Reykjavík. She is the author of the acclaimed short story collection Keisaramörgæsir (Emperor Penguins) and co-author of two poetry collections with the Svikaskáld (Imposter Poets) poetry collective. Her theatrical work has been staged at the Reykjavík City Theatre, where she was the 2019-2020 Resident Playwright. She is sumltaneously the recipient of the prestigious 2021 Ljóðstafur Jóns úr Vör poetry award.
The event is organised by the Scandinavian House in Prague, Argo Publishing house and Authors’ Reading Month with the support from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the city of Prague.
