Eat&Read Nordic

Which Nordic authors write about food? What does lapskaus taste like? What do Danes eat for dessert? After a long time, our popular literary-culinary show is back again in Prague!

You’ll be able to savour Scandinavian countries and their culture with more than one sense. The tasting of Danish, Norwegian and Swedish culinary specialties will be accompanied by chosen thematic excerpts from Czech translations of books written by Nordic authors and talks about cultural and gastronomic traditions of the North.

You’ll taste two types of Swedish stuffed eggs with homemade rye bread as a starter, you’ll be served a vegetarian version of Norwegian lapskaus as a main course and to finish the evening, you’ll get a chance to try a traditional Danish apple cake called æblekage.

Hana Švolbová and Martin Severýn will guide you through the evening.

Entrance fee: 250 CZK (200 CZK for members of Scandinavian house members with a valid membership)

One serving of each of the foods mentioned above (starter, main course, and dessert) and water is included in the ticket price; coffee, beer, wine, and other beverages will be available for purchase at the café bar.

Considering the limited capacity of the venue, it’s necessary to reserve your spot in advance at simona@skandinavskydum.cz. You should put “Eat&Read Nordic – registration” in the email subject and include if you’d prefer the version of the starter containing caviar or a vegetarian version. If you are entitled to a membership discount, don’t forget to include the number of your membership card in the email.

The payment will be paid in advance to an account. The reservation is binding and non-refundable. Should the event be cancelled, the full cost of the entrance fee will be returned through a transfer to the account from which it had been previously sent.

Organized by the Scandinavian House in cooperation with Komunitní proctor (Community space) Smíchov and with financial support from Ministry of Culture Czech Republic, Prague City Hall and Norwegian Embassy in Prague and Swedish Embassy in Prague.
