Discussion with Estonian writer Jaan Kaplinski
Jaan Kaplinski is an Estonian poet, philosopher, and culture critic. Kaplinski studied languages and linguistics at Tartu University, graduating in 1966, and has worked as a translator, editor, and sociologist.
The discussion will focus on Kaplinski's work, Estonian literature, culture of Finno-Ugric peoples and intercultural relations.
In Estonian, interpreted into Czech.

Exhibition of photographs: Eestory
The Scandinavian House and EXIL, o.s. invite you to the Estonian cultural evening on the occasion of the exhibition opening: eestory.cz - one Estonia, six photographic objectives.
Within the exhibition opening there will be a photo presentation, a short lecture on Estonia and a bit of Estonian music.

You have an opportunity to see the pictures that students have been creating since 2008 in Estonia during their Erasmus in Tallinn. The main goal of this exhibition is to bring Estonian culture and customs into the Czech Republic and spread them between people who would like to get to know a little bit more about the northeast Baltic country, the land of beautiful nature, extraordinary architecture, specific music, entertaining dance, brilliant food and necessary Skype. Eestory is held in six cities of the Czech Republic, Ostrava, Praha, Brno, Olomouc, Zlín and Holešov during 2010. More information are available here.
Set of Scandinavian films in the Prague cinema Atlas in December
The Scandinavian House is going to show another set of Scandinavian films in the Atlas cinema in Prague (Sokolovská 1, Prague 8) in December (11th - 14th). All the films are in original languages with Czech subtitles and they start at 8pm.

The son of a Viking Harald is being left behind in his village with only the women and children, when his father joins a group of rebels. They are revolving against the king because he is demanding control over their ships. But the king takes revenge by overtaking the village and tyrannize the population.
Baltfest2009 - Festival of Baltic Literature and Film
The Scandinavian House in the cooperation with the Municipal Library of Prague and other partners presents 1st one-day festival of Baltic literature and film - Baltfest2009.
You will meet Liana Langa (Latvia), Arvo Valton (Estonia) and Kęstutis Navakas (Lithuania).

Focus on contemporary Danish films at Febiofest 2009

The Prague's Febio Film Festival is the city’s biggest international film festival. Febiofest was founded in Prague in 1993 and in following years gradually expanded to a number of cities in the Czech and Slovak Republics. In the Czech Republic, the attendance of the Febiofest reached 124 116 viewers last year.
